3rd place in 36th Vertical Flight Society Annual Student Design Competition
August, 2019
The challenge was titled "Extreme Altitude Mountain Rescue Vehicle" and students were tasked to design an aircraft capable of search and rescue missions at the summit of Mt Everest, where only one helicopter has ever landed and taken off again. The Center for Mobility with Vertical Lift (MOVE) graduate student team proposed Soteria, a synchropter named after the greek goddess of safety and salvation.
